ABOUT THE WEBINAR
Food Safety Modernization Act: Produce Grower Certification Training is for fruit and vegetable growers and other persons interested in learning about product safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and co-management of natural resources and food safety. The PSA Grower Training Course is one way to satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement (ยง112.22.c).
EVENT DETAILS
This webinar will provide an overview of the best practices for ensuring the safety of produce, including the development of a farm food safety plan, the importance of maintaining worker hygiene and health, and other key considerations. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the latest strategies and techniques for promoting food safety and minimizing the risk of contamination.

Fruit growers
Vegetable growers
Individuals required to satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement as outlined in Section 112.22(c)
Individuals interested in learning about the FSMA, particularly in regards to produce safety

Introduction to produce safety
Worker health and hygiene training
How to use soil amendments
Wildlife, domesticated animals, and land use
How to safely and properly use water for agriculture
Proper postharvest handling and sanitation
FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements and how to meet them
How to develop and follow a farm food safety plan
Microorganisms relevant to produce safety and where they may be found on the farm
How to identify microbial risks, practices that reduce risks, and how to begin implementing produce safety practices on the farm
In addition to learning about produce safety best practices, key parts of the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements are outlined within each module. There will be time for questions and discussion, so participants should come prepared to share their experiences and produce safety questions.
Certificate Information
After attending the entire course, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) that verifies they have completed the training course. To receive an AFDO certificate, a participant must be present for the entire training and submit the appropriate paperwork to their trainer at the end of the course.
